Café No Sé
www.cafenose.comCentral America's Bohemian outpost where travelers, writers, and musicians gather from around the globe to drink mezcal late into the night and regale each other with stories. Café No Sé is known for its eclectic art, political opinions, uncomfortable seats, nightly live music, 3.5 dogs, heartbreaks and the ashes of a dead bartender. It is the informal headquarters of numerous NGOs and it publishes La Cuadra, Central America's leading cultural and political magazine. Inside Café No Sé is a speak easy, The Mezcal Bar, that serves Limited Edition ILEGAL-MEZCAL and a variety of mezcal infusions. There is also a shrine to a pagan deity that followers pay homage to in the Mezcal Bar.

Y Tu Piña También

Y Tu Piña Tambien is the detox to Café No Se's retox. Diagonally across the street from No Sé, it is the daytime way station for Antigua's travelers, locals and ex-pats. It has an enticing Caribbean vibe, great coffee, organic salads, delicious sandwiches, fresh juices and free wi-fi. The staff can at best be described as borderline. In the early evening Piña's customers often take their first mezcal, rum or beer before heading out into the night.
La Cuadra
www.lacuadraonline.comLa Cuadra is Central America's leading progressive, satirical and political magazine for the English speaking audience. Founded by John Rexer in 2006, and co-published by Mike Tallon, La Cuadra features the works of established authors as well as new talent. It has been described as a journal "that keeps its tongue firmly in its cheek, its middle finger in the air and its arms open to writers with talent and an interesting story to tell." The publishers have received death threats for their political opinions as well as gift certificates to the Betty Ford Clinic from concerned friends. La Cuadra will go online in April 2009.
